Men-tal Health

We are a group of international students in the University of Twente in Enschede composed of Andrey, Samuel, Brenda and Diane. We were brought together by our common interest in the environment surrounding mental health, especially affecting male students.

We noticed there was a substantial difference in the treatment and the dialogue surrounding mental health for women vs for men and the effects this was causing in some of us and those in our close circle. The impact of societal expectations and demands is constantly weighing the male students down and with no appropriate tools to use, people or places to lean on, this tends to have dreadful consequences. We want to reach out to all male students at the University of Twente who are actively looking for help, and those who don’t even know they can ask for it.

So far, we have resorted to educating ourselves on the topic. Listening, reading, taking notes, discussing what experts, and our target audience, have to say about this topic. Next, we will be implementing what we have learned in order to create just what the students need and are looking for. This is all to ensure everyone at our campus has what they need for a safe and enjoyable university experience.
